I designed and developed a custom WordPress website for Xportando, a French-language betting aggregator platform. The goal was to create a modern, trustworthy, and lightning-fast resource where users could discover and compare top-rated betting sites, read expert reviews, and find helpful information—all without using restricted or sensitive keywords.

Using Elementor Pro, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), Custom Post Type UI (CPT UI), and best practices in SEO and UX, the website offers a seamless, mobile-first experience optimized for both discoverability and compliance.

I mapped out the primary content types and user journey with a clear goal: helping users find trustworthy betting platforms through categories like mobile betting, live betting, beginner-friendly sites, and more.

Design & Development

Theme & Customization

I used the Hello Elementor theme for performance and flexibility, and customized everything with Elementor Pro. I built a dark-themed aesthetic using the user’s preferred palette (#14001A background and #FAE5FF text) for a modern, bold look.

Custom Post Types & ACF

Using CPT UI, I created a custom post type called brands to store betting platform entries. Each brand entry uses ACF fields for rating, features, affiliate link, pros/cons, categories, and more.

Brands were also assigned to categories like:

• Sites de Paris Sportifs

• Sites Sur Mobile

• Sites Fiables

• Paris En Direct

• Sites Pour Débutants

These categories were styled with emojis and short descriptions for instant recognition and user engagement.

Sorting by ACF Field

To allow sorting brands by rating, I implemented a custom query modification using a code snippet within the Code Snippets plugin, ensuring the sort order remains consistent even on page reload.

Homepage Highlights

• Hero Section with bold H1, H2, and strong CTA buttons (“Compare Now” / “Find Trusted Sites”)

• Featured Brands sorted by ratings

• Category Previews with elegant hover effects and custom icons

• Legal Transparency note stating the site is an informational guide, not a gambling provider

• 18+ Age Verification Popup

• Cookie Consent Banner with customizable settings

Contact & Legal Pages

• Contact Page built with Elementor Forms and includes a professional inquiry form.

• Created detailed legal pages including:

  • Responsible Gaming

  • ANJ/ARJEL Compliance

  • Cookie Policy

• Wrote SEO-friendly content that avoids all restricted keywords like “casino,” “jeux,” and “d’argent.”

SEO, Performance & Testing

• Used Rank Math SEO for schema, meta titles, XML sitemap, and redirection management

• Optimized all assets using WebP images, lazy loading, and caching tools

• Set up Google Search Console for indexing and insights

• Performed cross-device testing to ensure full responsiveness and fast performance across all platforms

Challenges and Solutions

Challenge: Sorting Custom Posts by ACF Ratings
Solution: Used a custom PHP snippet to hook into Elementor’s query filter and allow sorting by numeric custom field (rating) stored in ACF.

Challenge: Maintaining Legal Compliance in France
Solution: Avoided restricted terminology and clearly stated the informational nature of the platform in every relevant section.

Challenge: Managing Complex Brand Data
Solution: Leveraged ACF for modular fields, repeaters, and conditional displays—making backend content entry clean and intuitive.
